Proud to Serve: Captain Jeff Lane

Proud to Serve, a segment on Fox 2 News in St. Louis, highlights local military veterans and first responders who have given both to our community and to our country. With strong ties to St. Louis, Brown & Brown is proud to support this recognition of men and women who have made a difference at home and beyond.

Every month, Brown & Brown provides a check to be awarded to the recipient of Proud to Serve. This month’s recipient, Captain Jeff Lane of the Sauget Fire Department, was nominated by his best friend from high school who calls him his role model – a sentiment echoed by many who know him. Captain Lane has been a firefighter for more than 30 years, but does not limit the scope of his duties to dousing blazes. Known to go above and beyond, Captain Lane will help “an old lady across the street” and take time to save a puppy just as quickly as he’ll respond to any call for help.

In addition to being Captain of the fire department, Mr. Lane is a volunteer with St. Clair Special Emergency Services, active in his church, and is frequently found around the city teaching on subjects such as confined space rescue. Watch the short clip below to learn more about this local hero and his contributions to our community.
