Proud to Serve, a segment on Fox 2 News in St. Louis, highlights local military veterans and first responders who have given both to our community and to our country. Located in St. Louis, Brown & Brown is proud to support this recognition of men and women who have made a difference at home and throughout the world.
Every month, Brown & Brown provides a check to be awarded to the recipient of Proud to Serve. This month’s recipient is Captain Jenna DeYong of the Granite City Police Department. For 30 years, Captain DeYong has been active in the community and has become well-known for her involvement in a variety of roles including a volunteer coach with Girls on the Run, a member of the Park Board, and an active presence in local schools. The first female officer to be hired by the Granite City Police Department, Captain DeYong is also involved in department programs including Shop with a Cop and Coffee with a Cop.
Captain DeYong decided to become an officer in high school. Entering the profession at a time when very few females were in law enforcement, Captain DeYong has broken barriers while distinguishing herself both within the Granite City Police Department and the community as a leader, a role model, and an inspiration.
